Twin feeding advice

Hi,

My twins were born nearly a week ago. Feeding hasn't been going perfectly, can anyone offer advice?

My plan was to breastfeed both, or at least start to, and see how it went. They had some minor medical issues at birth that meant that they needed to be supplemented with formula early on, and so they've been offered breast and then small bottle every three hours. Gradually they've been getting better at latching and are both capable of doing it for a reasonable time most of the time, but not every time. My milk is coming in. What do you think I should do next? Only offer breast? The milk is there, they just have to find it. Carry on as now with top-ups at some or all feeds? See how each baby goes at each feed? I have no issue with mix feeding if that is what is required. I admit I like the predictability of the three hours, and babies don't seem to be awake and needing more in between times.

Any tips? This is the thing I hate most about having babies. I was constantly worried and stressed with my first, and it's happening again. I really dislike breastfeeding too, which doesn't help. I do think it's worth it for the benefits though.

I think - although it is just a thought - that you should offer as much boob as possible and take advice from your doctor or health visitor about if the top ups are still required. Well done it sounds like you're doing great.
