My eight month old has 3 formula milk feeds - 8am, 2.30 and 8pm, plus breakfast, lunch and dinner. Last week I dropped the 11pm milk feed after tapering it down to 75ml. He always slept from 11pm until 7/8am. He managed okay for a few days from 8-7, but last two nights has woken up howling at around 11.
I thought he was getting enough energy from his food and milk and it was time to stop it. Going on very little, I assumed it was a bit overdue and most others would have dropped this by now.
I'm more than happy to go back to giving the feed, but would like some input as to whether it would be better to give it only if he cries? Or is it better to taper it down further - making it smaller / more watery? When did others stop giving a late milk feed?
Thanks for any help.
