Breastfeeding help- vasospasm?

Hi, I was wondering if anybody else has suffered with this and has any advice?

I have strong to severe pain on one side which happens after feeding and lasts about 2 hours when it happens. It is not after every feed but does happen most days. The pain is in the nipple and is a stabbing pain the often radiates through my breast deep into my chest. My nipple turns white after a feed and will eventually turn pink.

My baby is almost 6 months and I have ebf although will begin weaning very soon. Her latch was poor at the beginning as she was a nipple feeder, but improved as she grew. I had quite a lot of nipple damage at the beginning. She does occasionally clamp which aggravates the pain.

So far I have tried the doctor who said it wasn't thrush, lansinoh, all purpose nipple ointment, massaging with olive oil, paracetamol and silverette cups, but I am still experiencing pain most days.

Does anybody have any suggestions about how to make it better? I fed my first child until a year and would like to carry on with this one too. Thanks for reading.

I have Raynaud in my fingers, my nipple used to turn white after a feed and hurt pretty much like you described. Yes, it was a vasospasm and it got slightly better by applying a hot flannel on my boob at the end of a feed. It completely disapeared when I had DS's tongue tie sorted out though so it's probably a mix of reasons. They're a drug called Nifedipine that sometimes work but I'd work on possible other reasons (teething, latch, position) first.
