Ds is 16 weeks, and i really do not know what the prob is.

He is bottle fed, SMA gold, he figits alot when having his bottle, and is very sicky afterwards, between 3-5 times after every feed which is very mucusy. He feeds every 2-3 hours in daytime, sometimes every hour...7 oz each bottle.

He seems very unsettled most of the time, his sister had lactose intolerance from 3-6 months but was totally different symptoms to this...i am pulling my hair out with it...REALLY, and don't know what to do

BTW he is not ill or anything atm, no cold or anything which may have accounted for the mucusy sick, feel very down with it all tbh as does dh.

Have you tried any different milks? I know some babies who were often sick on SMA Gold, but not on other brands?

PrettyCandles · 26/11/2006 23:11

Try different brands of formula. Also try winding him frequently - before, during, after feeds, and between feeds.

CM...No, do you think i should? i think he is suffering with his teeth atm (getting 1st ones through maybe) but i do think this is defo a feeding prob, like i said my dd had temp lactose intolerance (picked up by me) but with her, she would feed ok then scream for an hour or so afterwards with her tummy bubbling, and very runny poo.

Just don't know what i can do to help him be more settled, feel really sorry for him

PC...he is very windy, can get wind up before his next feed iykwim, sometimes the sick is very thick othertimes it is just like pure milk straight out of his bottle.

Get him off SMa Gold, it made ds2 really ill. Cow and Gate suited him though, maybe give that one a try?

puccaupunderthemistletoe · 26/11/2006 23:19

Thanks Colditz...tbh the only reason i went for SMA gold was that with dd, i used C&G and she ended up on SMA LF, then switched back to the gold and was fine on it.

Will try swapping milk, thanks everyone.

Do i need to do it gradual? or just swap straight over?

Thanks again

I would swap straight over and then give it a few days to see if it makes any difference. It did with ds2

If he is very windy, he could also be taking in air while feeding. I'm sure you're careful to make sure that the teat is full of milk, and not to let him drain the last drops from the bottle, so perhaps it would be worth trying other bottles/teats? From what you describe, I'm sure it's the formula rather than the bottle or teat that is the problem, but it's worth bearing in mind.
