Expressing while continuing breastfeeding

Hi all,

I love breastfeeding my 3 week old but I want to start building up a supply of expressed milk. My question is when do you express when your breastfeeding so it doesn't stop baby getting his feed and how much should I express- both breasts until they are empty or just an ounce at a time?

Anyone?

If you start expressing much, this early, you might end up with over supply. It's best to wait until after six weeks for that, if you can.

Thanks for the reply Cockney, what about if I express just an ounce a day?

I'd wait for a few more weeks. The faff for an ounce isn't worth it imho.
