I WANT MY BREASTS BACK!!!

I have breastfed my DS now almost 15months old for you guessed it 15 months. I managed to get him down to 2 breastfeeds per day, but when he was poorly last week that is all he wants now. I am ready to claim them back as my own (even if they shrink to the size of prunes)- but don't know how to go about it! Any ideas?

I have just gone cold turkey on my 15 month old. Thought she would kick up a fuss. Only kept it going so long as she woke so early in the morning it was the easy answer. However high blood pressure and new tablets meant I had to stop. I was amazed. The first few mornings I got up a bit before she woke and made her a bottle and then brought her in to bed for that. Apart from an odd grab for the nipple she really hasnt kicked up a fuss. Realise I may have been lucky. But good luck.

I stopped breastfeeding my dd 3 weeks ago, she is also 15 months old. Just before I stopped dd was also poorly (I guess it's the time of year) and just wanted milk. However, as soon as she was better I just cut right down and gave her cows milk (from a bottle) or bananas - which she loves - and she soon forgot about wanting breastmilk. I set myself a deadline and in fact our last feed was a morning one the day before the deadline and she managed to get through the day without pestering me. So I decided to go the next day without giving her any breastfeeds and went from there. The first couple of days were a bit tricky for her at bedtime, but I just let my dh do the bedtime routine and dd got used to that very quickly. I still produced milk for about two weeks afterwards which led to some interesting leaky situations at work! I have my boobs back now and they seem tiny!

Thanks pinkmama - my DS tends to fall asleep on my breast - I think he is using ti as a prop more than anything!

Hmmm...but don't you think once your lil one is over the porliness things go back to normal, and did that bother you?
Be glad your lil one still wants you, is what I say...but then I look at it from the envious side of, wanting to do serious extendet bf and only ever get to 13 month, lol.....!
Anyway, I suppose the decision is what is more important to you, reclaiming your boobs or your lil one....

And sorry if that came across a bit harsh, it isn't meant that way, just a thoght you might want to linger about, iykwim...not my opinion...

He is well now, but he is still wanting breast alot - and is still falling asleep on it. DS is also sharing our bed at the mo, which isn't ideal - he will sleep everywhere except in his own cot! So whenever he wakes in the night he is demanding the breast every time!
