Breastfeeding research

I am absolutely appalled at this quote, unquote research done by this site. I've always relied on them for real scientific journalism and quite frankly cannot believe they've resorted to this type of article. I also question the validity of the study and potential bias that seems to be present in the text.

It reads like a spoof article. Is it?

scatterthenuns · 03/08/2015 20:27

IFL Science isn't a spoof site... but it does intend to be 'edgy' and sometimes shock. IFL = I fucking love, btw.

scatterthenuns · 03/08/2015 20:29

Oh hang on.. IFLScience.com ISN'T a spoof site.

You posted from IFLScience.ORG - That IS a spoof site!

scatterthenuns · 03/08/2015 20:32

You've got .com and .org mixed up like me? The two are not affiliated in any way!

soccermum1989 · 03/08/2015 20:43

Are you sure? I feel much better-- I had to supplement formula for my son because he was lactose intolerant. I had one arrest back in 2007 but that wasn't even while he was alive.

Roonerspism · 03/08/2015 20:48

Is it genuine?

soccermum1989 · 03/08/2015 21:03

I really thought it was... where did they get that graph and that data? Have I just been duped?

OP posts:
scatterthenuns · 03/08/2015 21:51

Definietely sure it is fake.. this Snopes article clarified the org/com confusion. The .org site is trolling the .com one!

www.snopes.com/media/notnews/missingscientist.asp

Quote - Origins: On 17 May 2015, the fake news web site IFLScience.org (no affiliation with the credible IFLScience.com site) published an article reporting that a scientist who had been missing for more than 20 years had been found hiding in a secret drug lab he'd established in a Minnesota couple's basement:

scatterthenuns · 03/08/2015 21:51

Definitely* Jesus, autocorrect went to town there!

soccermum1989 · 03/08/2015 22:03

Oh, I am seriously relieved. Where did they get the graph though-- I get that the article was a spoof of the data, but where is the data coming from??

OP posts:
SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 03/08/2015 22:09

That's funny! Someone has spent a lot of time on that. Grin

squizita · 04/08/2015 08:10

They made up the data?

moggle · 04/08/2015 08:40

It's an excel graph, with no axis label, completely meaningless, I could make a similar one up in about 30 seconds.

BumWad · 08/08/2015 13:02

You got duped op you can totally tell it's a fake shit article

Kent1982 · 08/08/2015 17:04

This has got to be bollocks, what scientific research uses the term "slut shame"

LizzieLou3 · 09/08/2015 19:24

Hmm. Soccermum are you yourself a spoof? No-one would be taken in by this.
