How much to express/ give?

I've just expressed for the first time and got about 4oz/100ml. I can't work out how much my nearly 4 week old will take per feed though - having a google I've read anything from 1oz- 5oz!

Will she feed until full as with breast or can they over feed with breast milk from bottle?

Does anyone have any advice?

No, they can't over feed with ebm. Roughly a bf baby will take an ounce an hour, so if she takes two, she will probably take another feed in 2 hours Smile

My 4 week old will take between 2-4oz, I generally do 2oz per bottle and then she can have more if she wants it.

My 4 week old will easy do 100ml in a feed, he has been known to do 2 x 100ml right after each other. He is a very hungry boy though! Blush

There's a calculator on kellymom - it averages at 1 - 1 1/2 oz per hour ... but whether they take it little and often or in one go varies (and can vary between boob and bottle).

My hv recommended starting with 2 oz "portions" - if the baby drains that you can immediately offer more, if not, you've not wasted loads.

My 11 week old (4 weeks corrected) is 8lb and takes somewhere between 65-100ml, usually around 75ml though and feeds every 2.5 hours.
