My dd, 19 weeks and fully bf (altho takes bottles of ebm) has started crying and complaining during the day if offered the left boob and only settles when put to the right. She will take the left in the morning when she is v hungry and i am expressing off the right one at the same time as feeding her. Has anyone had this happen and/or has any ideas why?

I think lots of babies go through having a 'favourite', but could it possibly be a sore neck/ear/etc makes it uncomfortable for her to get at the left one?
Trying a rugby ball hold (with her under your arm) might ease it if it's a positioning thing, but I'm sure other people have some other ideas too...

My DD dislikes my left breast too. I suspect that my left one has a slower let down. She's always liked it less than the right, but it is only recently that she's started to get really frustrated when I put her on that side. I'm not sure what can be done: I just put her on that side first at each feed in the hope that she'll change her mind! Someone did suggest that I should prime the slower breast by pumping briefly before feeding, but it doesn't seem to help me. Maybe it would work for you, though.

My sister had a similar problem with her dd. she had one very sore nipple right at the start, and she thinks she many have put dd off of that side without meaning to, she tried all sorts of things to re-introduce the offending breast, nothing worked, dd would have nothing to do with it. Upside to this story is that she fed dd for 2 1/2 years, exclusively for 6 months, from only one breast.

My dd2 would only have my right boob from about 3 mo until I stopped bf at 22 months. She was fine, but I looked like I had a grapefruit and a melon down my top. It's evened up a bit now!
