anyone been to the tongue tie clinic at Evelina Childrens' Hospital?

Just that really. We're booked in for Weds (for my then 10-week old DS, who can struggle to latch) , but can't seem to find much info online... Would be great to hear of anyone else's experiences?

Thanks I've heard it's a relatively new clinic, which I guess explains the lack of responses?

It was great in our experience - really nice doctor, my newborn's tie snipped in seconds and his tears lasted only a few seconds more. He was very young at the time and bf was incredibly painful but we saw instant improvement... They have a really kind bf consultant who sits with you to monitor a feed after the procedure and gives advice.

I don't have experience of that hospital but my boy had his snipped at 10 weeks, he cries for about 1 minute I fed him and he seemed to forget about it. He then had a week or so of poking his little tongue out and exploring his mouth it was pretty cute. We haven't had any issue at all and so glad we had it done as his was pretty severe xx

We're not sure in our case it will make much difference as health professionals can't agree, but I think it's worth a shot.
Just feeding lots now as he cant eat again until afterwards - which I'm sure will make for an interesting hungry bus trip in.....????

Just to add - we had the procedure today at Evelina and it was a really positive experience - v quick, he cried for 2 seconds and then fed fine. We don't know yet if it will help BFing but worth it to try everything possible

I know this is almost a zombie thread now, but wanted to come back and say (first sorry for missing the chance of a mumsnet meet up at Evelina on July 29th, obviously a popular day!) and that now, 4 months on, I think I can safely report back the TT snip made a difference for us. For 3-4 days after the feelings was worse, and I was worried it had been the wrong move, but then it started to improve and looking back that was absolutely the turning point.
DS turned 6 months yesterday, and we're still BF, which felt completely unachieveable in those early days.
Oh, and Evelina were great, professional and quick. Only gripe is as I live outside of the borough they didn't know what to advise me in terms of follow-up support, so if that will be the case for you, make sure you find BF counselling/support groups in your area
