Long string like spaghetti in EBF baby poo

Hi

I have Just found a long, fibrous string in my EBF baby's poo. It split in 2 when I tried to pull it out, but it is about 8-10 cams long and stretchy. It is the thickness of spaghetti.

She's six months old and I've never seen anything like this before. She recently started taking omeprazole for reflux.

I will go to the doctors tomorrow, but just a bit freaked out.

I know you said EBF but is she on any solids at all? Can you be 100% sure she hasn't swallowed food or similar?

My first thought is something worm related.
Google worm in poo. Some photos look like spaghetti, but is actually a type of worm.

it looks like tapeworm but I can't see how she would have got that

Could she have eaten something without you knowing?

She hasn't eaten a thing, infact she won't open her mouth to food at all and could not be less interested. She has been miserable lately and weight gain has stopped.

She has an older sister so is surrounded by germ ridden toddlers.

I'm worried now...

Don't worry too much. But take her to doctors tomorrow. I agree with a pp in that it looks like tapeworm (was on app so didn't see a photo when I first posted but went onto mobile site and gave now seen it).
I'm not really sure how you get tapeworm, it's nit that common, and can be caught from raw' contaminated meat but she hasn't eaten anything, have you got a dog/has she been around a dog?

Something (non-food based) that she's eaten?

eg. something she's picked up off the floor, something she's chewed off another object, something her older sister has 'fed' her as pretend food?

She can't sit up yet and has become quite withdrawn since she stopped putting on weight 2 months ago (she doesn't pick things up, only puts things in her mouth that I give her). So I'm pretty sure it's nothing she has eaten. She's definitely never eaten meat. Her sister only eats fish at home.

She has never been around a dog.

I have read about this type of thing before so did a google search - Candida Albicans: Candida albicans is the most common form of fungal yeast known to humans. Stools which contain dead Candida can be mistaken for several types of worms. In the stool, the dead Candida often exhibits a white, stringy looking material which may be similar to thin pieces of string cheese.
Another description of dead Candida when they appear in the stool resembles small pieces of oat meal; not always in clumps, sometimes as separate pieces with the same shape and size as oat meal and sometimes in clumps. The color is supposedly about the same as that of uncooked oat meal, either a bit lighter or darker, and floats, just like oatmeal would.

We had something very similar, right down to what seem like little worm heads. Showed a picture to the midwife who wasn't sure and recommended we see the GP, or A&E as it was out of hours. Doc took a look, found that the 'worm' disintegrated in her hand, and as all other signs were ok decided it was just long stringy mucous and nothing to be concerned about. She did say she was glad we took him as he is only 9 days old and for babies under 3 months they like to be very cautious.

Can you tell us all what it was? I saw something similar and trying to see what it is? Ty
