NewMum.
What do you mean?
The way to get the milk going is to let the baby suck as much as s/he wants to.
How old is the baby?

NewMum01 · 19/11/2006 21:34

yes this is when I feed her, but my problem now is that she tries to suck & very little comes out, I tried to express milk it doesn't come out, in the meantime my upper part of brest is full, painful & hard, it seems that I donnu something seems wrong like milk is stucked!!

have you tried putting a warm flannel (ie soaked in warm water) on the hard sore part about 5 mins before breastfeeding. Or have a warm shower and massage the sore area then breastfeed as soon as you get out of the shower. it might not be very helpful advice but do try and relax and sit in a comfy place to feed.

Newmum01 it sounds very much like you might have blocked milk ducts. click here for advice on what to do

You must deal with it as soon as possible to prevent things getting worse.

Good luck

this has some really useful advice too!

iwouldloveadollypleaseSanta · 19/11/2006 22:25

yes you must and if you get any flu-like symptoms (fever, aching, feeling ill) call the doctor!

moondog · 19/11/2006 22:27

What you express is not what the baby will get if s/he sucks as the action is different.

How old is the baby?

the links you sent me lulumama & mawbroon are really useful. I tried the massage & warm towel & feeding the baby, nothing seems working. Yes I believe now I got blocked milk ducts I will carry on trying & reading more about treatment suggestions, if still sore I think I must see the GP tomorrow.. uff this is really terrible
My baby is 3 month old moondog
