Back to work, feeding overnight, will boobs understand?

Hello,

I'm going back to work in a couple of months, and 10 month old ds is still feeding a lot (sometimes every hour) overnight, but is (finally) starting to feed less in the day, though probably still feeding every few hours or so.

When I'm back at work I anticipate the night time feedings increasing, along with the day time feeds on days I'm not at work.

Will my boobs understand that they need to supply milk overnight but not in the day? But that they do in the day sometimes? I kind of feel like they might, as they seem to understand everything so far, but I'm worried I'm just going to leak like mad on the work days.

I hope that made sense! Thanks!

Mine did! The first few days I had to express a small amount in the afternoon, but after that it was fine. Even though dd still had the occasional daytime feed on days I wasn't working. Is there somewhere at work you can express if you need to?

Yep! Your boobs are very clever and will increase supply when needed :) I had this when I started back at college with my 1st baby, he wouldn't take a bottle in the day so fed loads through the night and on days I wasn't at college. My boobs just supplied more when he needed it!
