14 month old - mastitis

I had mastitis when both my DC were v young and am worried I have it now - DS is 14months though. Is it unusual to have mastitis at this stage of feeding? I have been quite tired and run down (both DC are terrible sleepers) and lost my voice last week - could this be related? One v sore boob (although no obvious red patch), achy, shivery and nauseous. Still the sore throat although don't know if this is related.... Does it sound like mastitis? And what should I do? When the DC were small I fed frequently to clear blockage but now DS just has a morning feed, a 4pm feed, a 7pm bedtime feed. Would it make things worse to encourage him to go on that side more often?

I had it reccently with 12 month old. I upped the feeding a bit for first few days but my supply was so poor at times I didn't usually feed it really wasn't worth it and she wasn't interested.
The antibiotics worked v quickly compared to when both Dds was a couple of months old and I had masses of milk.

Just do all the other sell help measures rest, hot baths and showers, massage etc to encourage the milk to flow etc check out kellymom.

So after reading and replying to your message I have come down with it again today! Mastitis is horrid.

Oh no McBaby! Sorry to hear that. I went to the Docs and have been given antibiotics and am following your advice of hot baths and massage. Hopefully it will clear quickly - and I really hope yours does too. Bleurgh to mastitis! Horrible.
