Found his thumb now won't feed

Hi,

My 21 week old has just started thumbsucking ( think he is also teething) - not bothered about that. However, he is refusing the breast now... Had a feed at 2am ( just 3 min - usually on much longer and I think probably comfort sucked before). Has slept until 7 am ( unheard of!) and now refusing feed. Has just had a good long thumbsuck and sent himself back to sleep.

Obviously concerned he is not feeding and not sure what to do!

Any thoughts?

Not something to worry about. It's too soon to say 'nursing strike' but even those pass.

Babies beyond newborn do have shorter feeds. All babies change their patterns from time to time.

He will soon get back to normal. A healthy 21 weeker does not let himself go hungry :)

Thanks - managed to prise my nip in whilst he slept ( never managed to dream feed in past) and has now at least fed!
