Should I be giving less milk?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any ideas about this, as I'm finding it hard to work out what my instinct is?!

Baby boy is 17 weeks and had always been big - born 9lb 5 and today weighed in at 17lb 15!

Due to various factors and a silent reflux diagnosis he has been bottle fed with thick anti-reflux milk since week 6. He was also on ranitidine and domperidone. It all worked like a dream - he was sleeping wonderfully and gaining weight really well. Following pead's advice at time of diagnosis, I started to bring down the dosage after about 3 months. We noticed no ill effects, so he finally completely came off it at 15 weeks.

He had been crying for more milk after every feed, and I had gradually increased his bottles to 9oz, which seemed like loads to me but he seemed like he was needing it.

I have tried to bring him gradually back onto normal Aptimil which hasn't touch wood, OH GOD TOUCH WOOD caused any issues at night, but he brings bits of it back up after every feed.

I know it's normal for babies to posset some milk, and I wouldn't class it as vomiting/reflux because there appears to be no wretching or arching etc...

He's also choosing to leave the ends of his feeds now, so eating (after first two big feeds of the day) 7oz ish instead of the 9 he was guzzling on the thicker milk.

I'm guessing the thicker milk just dropped through his stomach really quickly whilst the normal stuff sticks around in there a bit more? Maybe not?

Anyway, thinking of tying him with reduced feeds after his morning ones as of tomorrow to try and stop him bringing back quite so much of it. I've not been forcing him to take 9oz but he will just sit there and suck and swallow so often it all goes in.

Any thoughts? I'm worried that dropping his calorie intake after a good 3 weeks or so of 5x 9oz feeds is going to cause problems at night (we're already waking earlier not through hunger but through alertness, which is causing me to struggle a bit - previous depression, much worse on less sleep, therefore really paranoid about this!)

Should have said - he was sleeping 9/10 hours at night up until the other week too. I don't think this is linked.
