Sudden engorgement a week after stopping BF

Hello all, I stopped BF DD (8 months) exactly a week ago. I'd been gradually swapping a feed every couple of weeks from 6 months and thought it had all gone pretty smoothly, bar a blocked duct after 24 hours or so (easily cleared).

However, I woke up in the night in a puddle of milk, and am really sore and engorged today after days of nothing. What on earth is going on?! And do I need to just ride it out? Don't really want to get the pump out or start feeding again, I found it emotional enough stopping in the first place (returning to very full on job with unpredictable hours in two weeks).

Any advice welcome!

Anyone? I expressed a couple of ounces earlier and it did relieve things a bit, but still feeling very tender. Can't feel any lumps and feel ok in myself...
