Breastfeeding and ovulating

My DS is nearly 15 months old. 8 weeks ago I returned to work four days a week so I'm BF'ing him at bedtime and during the night on demand. On my days off he sometimes has one feed in the afternoon too.

Recently he's been really poorly and wouldn't eat for a week. He breastfed non stop during this time.

That's the background... My question is does anyone know when I could expect to ovulate/get my periods back. I was always regular before and thought going back to work would mean a big enough drop in feeding for my periods to starts again.

If anyone can offer any advice I'd be very grateful.

No one can say as it is so individual. Some women don't get their periods back until bf has gone down to virtually nothing. Others get them back as soon as the baby has a longer gap between two feeds. And there is everything in between, all normal!

I found some useful info on an old thread too. I'd like to think about TTC again within the next year but not ready to stop BF'ing yet. I guess I'll just see what happens.

My period didn't return until about 5 weeks after dd's last bf at 10 months but other people I know got their periods and pg whilst still bf ing so everyone is different.

I got my periods back when DS2 was 15 months (I have just stopped feeding now at 2.5).

My friend has 2 DC and didn't have a period between them!

I think night weaning is meant to have more of an impact on ovulation than day weaning? But I have no idea why!

No peroid since before I got pregnant with dd1 3.5 years ago.

Dd2 nearly 13 months and dropped to 2 feeds a day and seeing signs ovulation is returning.
