Hi all - any help or advice would be greatly appreciated in how to get my 3 month old to start taking the bottle again.
She is exclusively breast fed but would be given one feed a day by bottle (usually breast milk but sometimes formula). She was tongue tied which she had snipped at 3 days, but we still struggled with her latching until at 8 weeks with being diagnosed with reflux and also her tongue tie not completely gone, we had to have it resnipped. At this same time we got the latching working much better so for some reason we dropped the bottle for a couple of weeks - and then we we tried to offer it to her recently she just screams the house down.
We have tried different bottles (medela, tommee tippee and Maam, bought her teats etc), and having only my husband feed her and not I, but nothing seems to work. I wondered if it's maybe she doesn't like anything foreign in her mouth after the two snips, but on occassion she will play with the teat in her by chewing it, or just poke her tongue out under it - I'm not sure if she has forgotten how to "suck" a bottle or if she just doens't want it in her mouth.
I have a couple of events coming up which will mean my husband will be looking after her for around 5 or more hours, and at the moment he is contemplating sitting outside the event so I can feed her - not my ideal either!!
My main concern I guess is where do you draw the line of sticking the bottle in their mouth with them being hysterical? I don't want it to end up that she totally rejects it because of negative connotations with it, plus it's difficult to hear her so upset.
Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated!! TIA x
