Nipple piercing - is it a problem?

I am 6 months pregnant with my first baby and hope to breasted.

I have no experience of this personally, but the excellent evidence-based breastfeeding site Kellymom says it's fine - kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/lifestyle/mom-activities/

I had both nipples pierced but let them heal before I got pregnant, and am currently bf my third child. I bf the first two for two years each so I'd say there's no problem

I haven't had a ring or anything in the piercing for some years but it has never closed up. This is what concerns me a bit for some reason.

I've had both of mine done.

I had taken my piercings out about a year or so before I fell pregnant though.

I've BF my DS1 no problems at all (still going at 16 months)...I do get some additional milk leakage out of the holes on one side though!
