How long for breasts to fill after expressing?

Just that really. Pumped breasts dry at 730am. Can I try feeding from them now?

Midwife wants to admit dd to hospital today and I just want to keep feeding before she gets here.

Yes. Dd will be much more effective at stimulating the milk than the pump is - she will reach parts the pump cannot reach. Snuggle up together and go for it.

Hope that Dd is OK

You can't 'pump breasts dry'. You need to think of them as factories, not warehouses. You could put your DD to the breast immediately after pumping and she'd still get something. It wouldn't come as rapidly, so she'd have to work harder and potentially fall asleep with the effort before she'd had a full feed, but she'd definitely get something as your body produces milk directly from the bloodstream as your baby needs it. The more you feed, the more efficient your body gets at doing this so you're far better feeding as much as you can, even if it's directly after expressing, rather than waiting for a 'refill'.

Hope your baby is OK Flowers

My DS1 lost 11% of his birthweight within his first week. We've sent out invitations for his third birthday party today. Don't fret (she said, like that's an easy thing to do!)

hope you're both ok and things improve Flowers it takes mine about an hour to be noticeably full again.
