What happened when you stopped extended bf?

I've been bf for 4.5 years now; dd1 and dd2 till both around 2.5. I finally stopped feeding dd2 about a month ago and, as she'd only had one feed a day for the past year or so, I kind of assumed it would not affect me on a physiological level.

I've lost half a stone! Can't see any other explanation, but it seems so unlikely...

Anyone else had this - slightly worried I might be missing something else?

My youngest had his last feed on Sunday after 3.5 years of feeding him and big sis. I am a bit more than half a stone over the weight where my nicest clothes fit. So I am hoping that lots of posters come on and say that yes, they too lost half a stone, and its not just the nice weather changing Goldrill's eating habits.

I've only just got DS 3, down to 1 feed a day, he's not impressed. I'm not sure loosing half a stone is worth the stress of stopping completely.

StandoutMop · 14/04/2015 22:21

Hmmm. Think I gained half a stone. Probably due to increase in booze intake.

WeeMadArthur · 14/04/2015 22:27

I hope I lose half a stone! I heard that some people store excess fat when they breast feed it's not all the Christmas chocolate, Valentines chocolate and Easter chocolate, oh no so when I finish feeding DS5 I'm hoping to finally shift some weight. Let me know how it goes!

Goldrill · 14/04/2015 22:42

Have to say my diet remains largely based around pork pies and white wine, and the proportions haven't changed!

I definitely stored up extra fat while ebf with dd1, but it went quite quickly when she got into solids and it dropped off. Was still feeding her while pg with dd2 and for a few months after, but I was quite ill and rather underweight for the first year dd2 was here. I felt I had got back to being me a bit since then, so I wasn't expecting anything to change when bf finally stopped. Very odd.

I put on weight!

Kennington · 14/04/2015 22:49

I didn't loose any weight unfortunately and I breast fed for 2 years and 3 months

Cies · 15/04/2015 20:36

I put on weight. I look back at my body last summer, with big blobs and a flattish tummy and sigh wistfully.

Lovelydiscusfish · 15/04/2015 20:45

Gained weight, sadly.
