Terrible breast pain

Would really appreciate advice. Moved to Denmark 5 weeks ago. Second son is now 7 weeks old. 2 weeks ago developed pain after feeding that is burning from the base of the breast. The gp here doesn't really give medication so has been a battle. Was convinced it was thrush so started on miconazole cream for nipples and fluconazole 5 days ago. The nipples were a bit sore and cracked and that is improving. The breast pain is still really up and down. And I was crying in pain in the evening yesterday. I saw a lactation consultant here who said it can be normal to have pains in the first few weeks and this should settle down. This doesn't feel normal. There isn't much breastfeeding support out here. Breastfeeding didn't go well with ds1 and was so determined to make it work but not sure how long I can keep going. Any advice greatly appreciated.

If it doesn't feel like run of the mill pain, it probably isn't. Crying during feeds isn't just par for the course. Don't be fobbed off. If you suspect thrush and it needs something stronger, go back to the doc and get pushy. Good luck

That does not sound normal at all HmmHmm try la leche league. They are everywhere. Or another doctor. Hope you find help soon.

Could it be an undiagnosed tongue tie? Pain like that can often be diagnosed as thrush but is actually due to a tongue tie.

I had a burning sensation after feeding that was deep in the breast, not like nipple soreness, it was in the breast tissue. It was thrush and treated, I'd try another doctor.
