Hi, my 7 wk old boy has been feeding relentlessly since 7pm on Saturday. His sleeping has reduced from 5 hr stretches to 2 max day and night...if he sleeps at all. He'a been awake since 9 this morning feeding. He is having lots of wet/dirty nappies so I know he's getting the milk. He slept for a broken 4 hrs on Sat night and has 7 nappy changes. He was 9lbs 9oz when he was weighed last wk and I can see that he's putting on the weight quickly. I've been stuck to the couch and my poor DH cannot pacify him. Sling isn't working either.
Thanks

Have you tried a dummy?

Is it the 6 week growth spurt? If so then, IME, it is normal. DD didn't manage 48 hours but she did do 21 hours with breaks of no longer than 45 minutes at 3 weeks and 25 hours with breaks of no longer than 70 minutes at 6 week. Both occasions practically broke me. My only tips are to sleep when you can, drink a lot of water & fennel tea and eat as much porridge & flapjack as possible to boost your milk supply... although you may find as I did that by the time this kicks in the growth spurt is over and you are suddenly leaking all the time. DD gained a pound in 6 days during her 6 week growth spurt!
Good luck!

Nicky, unfortunatly he won't take a dummy. He gags when we give it to him so have given up. Is a dummy something to persevere with or should they happily take it from the start?

harbour, good to know that this behaviour is normal. a pound in six days is amazing! Thanks for the reassurance!

Sounds completely normal to me Smile ds cluster fed like this and I'm currently sat up with dd (2 weeks) who has been cluster feeding most of the night. Rest assured things will settle down.
