My dd is 8 weeks old and I breast fed her for 2 weeks but the pain was excruciating. So I stopped and combination fed with expressed breast milk and formula. The milk in my left breast dried up quite quickly and I couldn't maintain it just with the right, so I switched to formula feeding only. A month on, my right breast in extremely hard, with several lumps and is painful. I saw my GP about it and took a course of antibiotics in case it was mastitis, but the lumps and hardness still remain. I'm getting very fed up as it's also stopping me wearing normal bras now and I have to wear a sports bra to bed every night. I'm less concerned about the pain and more worried about the fact my breast is still so hard and lumpy. I've tried massaging in case block milk ducts but that isn't working. Has anyone had this problem last over a month and if so, have you just gone back to the GP or is there another specialist I could consult, as I don't see what else my doctor can do? Any advice is appreciated.
