Ella’s Kitchen, failed seal on packaging

I wanted to let everyone know that in the space of a couple of days I have purchased on two separate occasions tubs of Ella’s Kitchen ‘Chicken Curry with coconuts and mangoes’ that have failed seals on the pack. Some of the contents had dribbled onto the seal area before the seal was made, with the result that the seal was not intact. One pack was bulging a typical sign of microbial growth and the other had mould growing on the material that was outside the seal. The use by date on both these products was the 08/2015.

This is a meat containing product, with an ambient shelf life of several months and no requirement to reheat, so please double check the seals on all your products. The product comes in a round plastic tub, with a sealed film lid and a cardboard sleeve around the outside.

I’m not saying don’t purchase the product, but it is essential you check these types of pack carefully before opening it and feeding your children. If you find a problem, contact the seller and manufacturer. I worked in the food industry and this information is vital to help companies correct manufacturing problems.
