Evening All,

I'm hoping that I will be able to get some good advice from you all here on the following.

Since our little girl has been born we have had no end of trouble with her feeding.

She was started off on Aptimal which caused excessive wind, bad tummy with either diarrhea or constipation. The HV advised us to change to the comfort range which we did, this only caused us alot more issues :-( being that she had bright green poo's. She ended up with trapped wind, excessive wind, sickness, pooing out of her nappies and down leg and just general non-weight gain but no loss.

I thought that she might be lactose intolerant and took her to the doc's whom made me feel like I was mad. He sent me off to go and buy Pepti1 @ a rather large cost only to find out this didn't agree with her, she threw it up all over me and the living room.

So after further advise we changed her on to SMA as it could of been that Aptimal was too rich for her, a further two weeks down the line and yet again she is sicking up (not alot but enough for concern), excessive pooing(all out of nappy and down legs) trapped wind, unable to get her to burp etc basically the same as she was on Aptimal but not as bad.

So off we go to the docs who says that she is intolerant to cows milk and needs to be on SMA Whey Soya this was ok over the last two weeks but yet again all the symptoms have started to return. So HV advised us to go back to the docs who were as helpful as a chocolate fire guard!!!!

We've left there and been given the following Nutramigen Forumla. I'm rather scared to just switch her over as after all she has been though the last thing I want to do is cause more issues to her poorly digestive system.

Has anyone else been though this and if so what did you do and what was the outcome?

She 9 weeks old nearly 10 and has gained just over 2lbs since birth which isn't correct as far as I can see.

She is being referred to the dietician but yet again this takes time, but hay it's only taken them 6 weeks to listen to me!

I'm at my wits end :-(

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jemma

It does sound as if Nutrigram might work. Has anyone mentioned the possibility of cow's milk protein allergy?

I'm not trained, but I have it and her symptoms could fit. I'm surprised that the GP prescribed soy as 50% of people with CMPA also have a problem with soy.

I'd go back to the GP, take someone for support if need be, and insist on a referral to a Paed. Your GP should have NICae guidelines on when to refer for allergy testing.

Good luck.

My lg has nutramigen has done since 4 weeks old. She had constant acidy diarrhoea which burnt Her and was windy, couldnt settle and slow weight gain. We started nutramigen and overnight the nappys calmed down and the nappy calmed too. She still had reflux which gp gave gaviscon but the only thing that helped was Rantindine given by paedritican a few months later. She has been diagnosed with cows milk and soya intolerant. I would give the nutramigen a try. Hope it works for you both x
