Just wondering what kind of evening/night 'routine' can be established with a 1 month old on demand beeastfeeding baby.

His best (and sometimes only) sleep of the day is from about 6pm to 8pm but wonder if this disrupts nights sleep as once he wakes in the night..can take 2 or 3 hrs to get back to sleep. He's not much of a sleeper..Confused

Ds was like this. I introduced a light routine for him. About 5ish I turned down lights and the tv (not right down but a bit quieter). He was bathed, baby massage (if it mood) story then pjs ready to go up about 730 (taken from when he was getting tires every night). I also started use of a song for bedtime. In the night time our room was quiet, during night feeds I didn't speak to him, just put on breast, I even changed him while on the boob if he pood.
I don't know if it was the routine or luck but ds soon started sleeping better at nights, day time was another thing though.
Our routine is very relaxed, allowing for changes and flexibility.

Thank you Biscuits. Changing nappy while feeding...wow! Hats off to you!

How old was your DS when you began this routine?

Thank you! I had a very firm pillow to lay him on which helped.

I started doing lights and turning down noise a bit from day one. The story came in about a month old. He never looked like he listened but it was all about the voice, so If he was never up for it I laid him on a pillow and read it anyway as I fed him. I always sang the song as we went up the stairs as I wanted him to associate it with sleep. So really the routine started early but changed to meet our needs. Every now and again things get added like the massage has been added recently due to going to the classes recently.
At the young age you can afford to be flexible.

Great advice! Thank you!
