How long for periods to return post-BF?

My 12MO has just stopped BFing. She'd been down to one feed a day for the month or so. And simce about Christmas I'd been very gradually reducing BFing - she'd been really getting to grips with solids and we'd introduced a couple of bottle feeds. Any ideas as to what sort of time frame till my periods return? I'm desperate to try again but as we need fertility treatment I need to have had a few cycles before we can get going again. Would be good to get my head round how long I can expect it to take.

I don't think there's any set time frame. My 1yo still breastfeeds twice a day and my periods started two months ago. I'm sure it won't be too long.

Mine came back at 15 months, 2 months after Ds was night weaned.

agree it could be anytime.
I hav been having periods since DS was 3 months. He is ebf!

Mine came back 4 weeks (almost to the day) after I stopped feeding, ds was mix fed and only having 1 full feed and maybe two other short feeds which I reduced over 2 weeks to nothing. DS was 6 months when I stopped so 7 when I got first period. We were ttc straight away and I got pregnant after 3 cycles Smile

It can vary from dc to dc too. With dc1 mine came back at 5 weeks. Dc2 I'm still waiting 6 months later. Both ebf.

Mine came back last week, when ebf DD turned 4 months. I nearly cried! Especially as she's an IVF baby so my periods are fuck all use anyway. Hope yours comes back soon OP xx

Ok thanks all. Fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later - less than six months, I hooe!

Moggle, we're also IVFers. So yes, periods are basically pointless but clinic insists three cycles to make sure everything's returned to normal. Even though it'll be a FET.
