6 month follow on formula?

Should I start using follow on milk? Or stick with hungry baby milk? Is it thicker or thinner? My baby has always been on hungry baby as he's always wanting more. I don't want to go onto follow on milk if it's thinner and will cost me more in money

Personally I wouldn't bother, the iron can have a detrimental affect and the nhs don't recommend it.

How much formula is your Lo having and have you started solids yet?

Oh, and I'd ask MNHQ to move this to infant feeding, you might get a few more responses Smile

If my child was FF, I'd stick with what they knew, until they stopped having formula at 12 months. Follow on / Toddler milk has been 'invented' by the formula companies so that they can legally market their brand, as they are not allowed to advertise baby milk that's meant as a breast milk replacement.
I'm pretty sure there's little or even no evidence that it's necessary or beneficial.

Ds2 was a bit early so under paeds. The Dr said change to follow on for the iron content. Or she could prescribe iron if we preferred. Baby's iron reserves are low by 6 months.

That's very interesting Bonzo. Has your paed given you any evidence? I wonder what they suggested before follow on was invented to get around the advertising laws and why they think that your lo can't get enough iron from their diet and the first stage formula?
