Is it worth changing or should I carry on with first stage

It really makes no difference just go with which ever is cheaper.

There's no need to use it bit you do get boots advantage points etc if you swap.

My son is on hungry baby milk so is thicker than normal milk. How thick is the follow on milk?

A waste of money.. either use formula or cows milk, dependent on your child's age.
