Freezing EBM - simple question

Do you need to use the bags that are specifically marketed for freezing EBM, eg Lansinoh. Are they just another marketing gimmick or is there something special about them?
Are ordinary freezer bags perfectly adequate?
TIA.

Ordinary freezer bags often burst and you hard earned liquid gold is wasted. I preferred little bottles out Boots myself. Playtex make bads too so worth checking out prices. Ordinary feeding bottles are fine too.

I bought lots of very cheap bottles - often the patterned ones get sold off cheap.

I did also use ordinary bags from time to time, very occasionally they did leak. To stop any milk being wasted I used to double bag them just in case.

I use Lansinoh bags because they're easy to use and the plastic doesn't leach into the milk (or something convincing I read at the time), as it does with ordinary plastic bags.

Thanks for the feedback. The Boots/Superdrug at my local shopping centre didn't appear to stock any Lansinoh bags. However I wanted to make a start on expressing whilst dh is still on paternity leave - could be a bit more difficult next week when I have ds(16 months) and dd to look after on my own. So I have made do with normal bags for now but will get some better bags when I am next in town.

i used Boots' own bags many many times and never had any leaks. TBH, i also used the Medela bags and they are so similar they look like they come from the same manufacturer.

I have found ebay a good place to pick up bags cheaply.

I also found that the Boots narrow necked bottles fit the Ameda Lactaline pump. I therefore began freezing milk in those and stopped using bags all together.

Oh, Lanisoh also makes glass milk bottles that are excellent. Great if you end up pumping at work like me.
