Can breastfeeding cause spotting?

I had some light bleeding yesterday, thought it was my period coming (very) early but it then stopped within about an hour and nothing since.

Just wondering whether this could be breastfeeding/hormone related? Has anyone else had spotting between periods when breastfeeding? Dr Google isn't giving me a clear answer!

I found that I had a few "ghost periods" before they started properly. Have a read of this it explains it far better than I ever could Smile

Thanks both of you for replying. I've actually read that kellymom article before but managed to completely miss the bit at the end about periods so was good to reread.

This is my second proper cycle since birth I had a couple of 'ghost cycles' before that. I'm fairly confident that I ovulated about 6 days ago, so I have no idea why this is happening at this point in my cycle Confused.
