My 3 wk old DS is a grazer. Im Ebf and finding it very tough going. He's up for hours at night and often he'll sleep once he's on the breast but once we break contact he wakes up instantly. I was hoping not to go down the soother route but looking for an easier life. Any opinions on this matter would be gratefully received!!

Also when is it ok to start expressing?

We gave our ds one at 3 or 4 weeks as he wanted to be on breast constantly (he was also waiting for tongue tie cut at the time). I also started expressing at the same time to try and rest my very cracked nipples. He had no issues with nipple confusion and loved his dummy. No impact on breastfeeding.
My dd who is 9 weeks, is disgusted by the dummy and the bottle! So it may be your ds who decides whether he wants it!

DD2 is 9weeks now and has had one pretty much from the start. She was born at 35 weeks and spent a few weeks in nicu so they gave her one to calm her for blood tests etc.

Thinking about it she was well used to the dummy before we were even allowed to try bf and have never had any probs with nipple confusion
