How often does your 4/5 month old feed??

DD (ebf, 20 weeks) is now going 2.5/3 hours between feeds! Great! A big difference to the hourly feeding which seemed to last for weeks on end! However, she has since been waking more frequently during the night for a feed.

I'm worried she's not taking in enough calories during the day, and thats leading to more night feeds - or it just coincides with the dreaded 4 month regression?

How often does your ebf baby feed at a similar age?

She feeds from both sides at each feed x

Sounds about normal to me Smile

Sounds like the 4 month regression. Do you have the wonder weeks app? My DS is 4 months but thankfully is (so far) sleeping great. His sister though was awful around 4 months. She is 2 now and that month was without doubt the hardest time. I would just keep feeding as much as you can and sleep as much as possible (easier said than done) I used to have 15min power naps in the bathroom when my husband came home, anything to get me through a day!

Sorry, forgot to say my DS feeds every 4-5 hours both sides but my DD would of feed 2/3 hourly during a leap.

Yea I have the app, she should have finished the 4th leap by now but DD has never been one to follow the rules! She seems hungry when she wakes up, and is feeding as often during the night as she is during the day. Just seems a bit of a coincidence.

It's a catch 22 as she gets bad wind during night feeds as I can never burp her when she's fallen asleep at the boob, the wind wakes her up (usually making its way out of her rear endBlush) and the only thing to get her to sleep again is feeding her Sad

Urghhh same here ToonLass.

Dd feeds every 1.5-2.5 hours during the day but could stretch to 3 if we were out and she was asleep or whatever.
Nights are still silly and she usually is woken by dh and I going to bed and after that wakes lots. If for some reason she didn't wake too early in the night, the night as a whole goes better.
She can sleep for 4 hours if in bed with me but if she is several inches away in her Co-sleeper Hmm it's 2 or very occasionally 3 hours. 19 weeks. Wahhh!

Every 2 hours till almost 5 months ... then every 3.

Except at night- she is 4 hr between feeds at night thankfully.

squizita · 17/03/2015 11:14

...oh but at 4 months she got so hungry at night for 3-4 weeks! Sounds like a thing! Smile

ToonLass · 17/03/2015 13:07

I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that it passes then!

Strange question, but what is your LO like when they wake up? DD wakes up thrashing arms and legs and hitting herself in the face - I swaddle her because of this but she inevitably gets out of it eventually. Is this normal??
