Breastfeeding and losing weight

Am still BFing my youngest (6mo) but starting to want to slim down a bit. I am relatively small anyway so it's not a big thing, just wouldn't mijd losing a bit of tummy and bum.

I've been eating like an absolute horse, seem to be permanently ravenous. Yesterday I ate fairly normally (three meals and a snack) and went to the gym (really nothing at all strenuous, only about half an hour and barely broke a sweat) for the first time in a long time.

I was so exhausted by the end of the day I felt like I could barely walk and it felt like I had no milk for DD at bed time. She was on there for ages making complaints. She's not a good sleeper any way so no indication if she was left hungry (I dont think she was as had plenty of supper). But it reminded me of the early days of feeding her where I would literally feel like the life had been sucked out of me.

So what's the answer? Do I need to just keep eating and eating? I know guidelines are you don't actually need that much more etc but I really don't find that to be the case.

I don't think that eating a little less would have an effect on your bm, it sounds like it just could be coincidence.

If you want to slim down a little, could you swap some of your snacks for lighter choices? Like having carrot sticks with hummus instead of biscuits or cake? Do you walk much either? When I wanted to slim down and was being I walked to the shop and back with the pushchair at least twice a week. Doesn't sound like much but I lived at the top of a massive hill and the shop was at the bottom Smile

Have other children so yes am very active. And yes of course I don't just eat cakes and biscuits all day. I am well familiar with the 'have a handful of nuts and seeds' theories.

Think my comments were more a reflection on how I eat. I constantly scoffed cake and biscuits whilst bfing. Didn't mean to offend.
