Move to level 2 teats... Is she ready?

My 4 week old DD has recently been very fussy with her bottle, crying and then refusing altogether less than half way through. I read that this could be a sign that she was finding the flow too slow (even though she is still very little) and getting frustrated. I tried level 2 Dr Browns teats today for the first time and she took a whole feed with no fussing at all and no crying! She did, however, finish the 4oz within 15 mins and then projectile vomit about 5 mins afterwards Confused Was this too soon to move up a teat or will she get used to it? Have others found their baby was sick if they move up a teat size?

Maybe stick with the size 2 but let her have a couple of breathers mid-feed?

IMO 4 weeks is too young to be moving up a teat size - Doctor Browns size 2 teats are recommended from 3 months +. Going up a teat size may seem like a quick fix as she's fussing less, but her stomach will not be registering full because if how fast she is consuming milk, hence her vomiting. Do you usually use doctor browns or was that new with the teat size? She could be fussing for a number of reasons, but the most common reasons are wind or reflux. You should try burping her at every chance during feeding, to expel any air she has consumed as that will make her uncomfortable. It's also very possible that she's fussing because she's full - 4oz at 4 weeks old is quite a lot of milk for such a small person in one sitting! Could you try feeding her until she fusses, giving it a 10 minute break and then offering her the bottle again?

She was easily drinking almost 4oz just over a week ago before she started the fussing and crying... Then we was only taking 1oz per feed! She burped and farted really well so don't know about the wind thing. Hmmm

Also I have read they can have up to 4oz at this age, on the side of the formula box and in "Your Baby Week By Week" which is why I thought that was normal?
