DD was born at 36 weeks gestation 10 days ago.
I EBF for about 5 days but after an emotional chat with my midwife who supported our decision, my DH and I decided to combi-feed with a plan to FF in the near future.
DD would feed every 20-40 minutes on both breasts, have a 20-30 minute break and then feed again. I was sleep deprived in hospital and this continued at home as DD would feed like this from about 5pm until 2am the next morning and then have 2-hourly intervals. I would be lucky to snatch 1 hours worth of sleep.
So I began expressing breast milk as well as providing a top up of formula if I didn't have enough milk expressed. DD took to the bottle well, and in general, seems more 'settled' and content - she cries and fusses less.
She was drinking on average 2oz of milk per feed, with the odd 3oz here and there but in the last 24 hours, she is only drinking 1oz of milk. In 12 hours she has only had 4oz.
Is this normal? She has wet and soiled nappies but she is and has been since birth, a windy and hiccuping baby.
