Water for 7 month old

Should my 7 month old be drinking water every day? If so how much? I'm worried that he isn't drinking enough milk since he's been having 3 meals a day so if I give water he'll be even less thirsty

I offered water with meals, in a free flow sippy cup, and didn't worry about how much was drunk. DS took a fair while to get the hang of drinking on his own, and so I doubt much was actually going in. There is no specific amount they should have, just make it available with meals.

If you're not already doing so, do meals about an hour after breastfeeding (or bottlefeeding) then he should be hungry enough for solids, and that way milk is still prioritised. Also, you don't need to do three meals a day if he's dropping too many milk feeds, you could drop back down to 2 meals for a while. You only need to move to 3 meals by 8 to 9 months.
