With DD1 i EBF for 8 weeks with a couple of top ups from a cup during early days before milk came in. At 8 weeks we were both very poorly and I stopped producing milk so she had formula and then I pumped for the next 4 months, I did as much as I could and as my supply decreased I upped the formula. It was draining and very time consuming (the expressing) but I felt the breast milk to be the best option.
I'm expecting DC2 now in two weeks, I would ideally like to breast feed exclusively for at least a month to establish supply a bit but then start to combination feed (just one bottle and then increase to 50/50) hopefully for 9 or so months.
I am going back to work at 5 months and also have DD1 (3) to look after so am trying to work out how this might work in reality! I have support for the first two weeks from DH but that's it as then he's back to work from 7.30-7pm every day. I am worried how I might establish a routine having a very active DD1 to consider as well...
Has anyone gone or combination feeding from early on and if so how did it work for you?
Thanks
