Teething and night feeds

5.5mo DS is teething painfully, his night feed routine has gone to pot with it. He used to go 11-5 which was bliss but it's now anywhere between 2.30 (tonight) and 4am, he grizzles for a while which I ignore to start with and then move onto replacing dummy and putting my hand on his chest for reassurance, this works for a little while but always descends into writhing screaming and he won't be fully soothed and go back to sleep without a bottle, which can be up to 2hours earlier than we were at a few weeks ago.

He is obviously in pain and I don't want to withhold a source of comfort but I don't think hes hungry as he often goes 4.5-5 hours between bottles in the day. Probably worth saying he's not a fan of water at night, a couple of sips and all hell breaks lose when he realises it's not milk. Am I just creating a massive rod for my own back for once this tooth breaks through or will what we had in place before hopefully fall back into place. We're not massively routine driven but 5.5 hours uninterrupted sleep was a godsend!

TIA for words of wisdom xx

Hi from experience probably better to stick with all the pain meds, gels, crystals etc, your usual route and the mantra 'this too will pass'. I gave in and allowed mine to bf almost all night which lead me to fighting him to get him to sleep again after the teeth where through. Plus he started overfeeding which lead to tummy ache and more screaming. You have my sympathy, sleep deprivation is a killer. Fingers crossed once the tooth is through he will revert, your doing great.
