Awful bad back and breastfeeding

Sad Paracetamol isn't touching it.

I can hardly lift or put down dd. Most pain I've been in for a while (on a scale of 1 to labour I'd call it "that bit where you call the hospital quite insistently").

What's the strongest and best remedy I can take breastfeeding?
Also what's that website/helpline that advises on such things? Thanks!! Smile

Kelly mom is American but loads of good info on drugs etc. Do you have a local breastfeeding support line? I'm afraid I don't know the national line.

Wendy Jones is the pharmacist working with the Breastfeeding Network- She answers e-mail queries

Thanks! Found that the general consensus is ibuprofen is ok and declafinac if you need it from the dr.

It seems to respond well to heat. Might get some patches.

Yep several anti inflammatories are safe to take from a breastfeeding point of view, but always best to speak with your doctor to make sure they are the right choice for you!

I got diclofenac from the hospital after giving birth so definitely ok for breastfeeding. You might want to consider other feeding positions too, sometimes lying down, for example, can take the pressure off your back.

Could you self refer to a women's health physio? Might be related to the birth or post natal SPD?

I think I did it on the bus. The driver "took off" and swerved as everyone was getting ready to get off.
Angry
I'm prone to any muscular injury being very painful as I have a mild case of sticky blood.

Ouch Hmm hope it gets better soon

On the BfN website, there are great information sheets about drug options. Diclofenac is great - but you can't take it with iboprofen.

Thanks - ibuprofen and paracetamol seem to be enough for the last few days.

Now we've mum and baby streaming colds ... oh well!
