Squirmyworm, thanks for your posts on the other breastfeeding thread - sorry, I don't know what the stabbing pain might be, but I hope someone else can help you! Sounds like you've been through the mill...

it's been an education, that's for sure! really hope you get sorted soon - I did have about 3-4 months of very carefree and happy feeding between all the problems and that was worth all the hassle...

Poor you squirmyworm , I went trough all the same when dd was 3 weeks, now 7mths. My sypathies to you. Yes ouch , i remember that stabbing pain in the nips!! I remember the doc saying its part of the mastitis as the ducts get blocked that area can get inflamed. It feels a bit like someone is tugging on them, eeeww. Im sorry if this makes you worry that you may have mastitis again , but it could just be part of the last masttitis espisode. My doc recomended to continue to take nurofen , but if youre not happy I would go back to the doctors again.

I hope it clears up quickly , poor you. Will done for continuing BF I gave up at that point!!

Squirmy, don't know (unless it could be thrush again, isn't that supposed to be a deep stabbing one as well?), but massive yet sensitive hugsxxx

Squirmyworm.

I am also suffering with thrush and am getting stabbing pains and was told by the B/F counsellor and my GP that the pains are caused by thrush.

melsy · 25/04/2004 10:19

strange that my doc never mentioned the trush, he should have known it was that. Are some doctors really not aware of it in the nips???

squirmyworm · 25/04/2004 17:45

it's strange - the GP didn't seem that clued up on it when I had it - one of my midwives was though and the b/f clinic was great.
Had a terrible night as the pain kept waking me up and I kept having to go and take ibuprofen in order to sleep. also did some deep massage (at 3am!) to see if I could feel/unblock a lump. Didn't seem to work so started thinking 'oh god it's an abcess' and was getting all ready to go to A&E if it got any worse but although I'm tired and got some flu-like symptons earlier it now feels a bit better and the fluey stuff is waning so fingers xed it was a blocked duct and touch of mastitis and is on the way out
thanks for all the support - xx
