C&G Comfort Queries

Hi all.. My FF almost 8 week old DS suffers badly with colic, wind and reflux. He uses infacol which helps a little and Dr Browns bottles. He also had Colief, but when the bottle ran out tried him without it and he does seem more unsettled so it could be a lactose thing...
Rather than try more Colief though I wondered if comfort milk might be better than dosing the poor chap with lots of different meds (also give him dentinox after a feed if he's really bad).

Does anyone have experience of using it? My worry is that its for constipation as well but he's definitely on the runny side already so not sure if this could upset his digestion?

Yep we used the Aptamil version and it saved my sanity!!! It worked a treat and my son stopped screaming non stop . We went back to first stage milk a few weeks later and within 3 bottles he was screaming again . I seem to recall it gave him explosive green poo though Shock which he seemed utterly unconcerned by . Good luck it's worth a try .

It is very very rare for a baby to be truly lactose intolerant (which colief claims to help with). More common is cows milk protein intolerance. If you think your baby is intolerant to cows milk protein (google the symptoms), much better to go along to the GP and try one of the prescription only formula to see if that helps. Infants with reflux do not always do well with infacol either.

There is no research evidence to back up the ability of infacol, dentinox, gripe water, colief, comfort formula to improve any of the symptoms you describe. Those symptoms may also just be normal new baby weird digestion. But best to rule out CMPI intolerance as that can quite easily be improved by one of the specialist formulas (Nutrimagen, pepti junior, neocate).
