How many BFs does your 3 month old have a day?

I've not been in any BF routine (have been feeding on demand) but we have suddenly fallen in to a bit of a routine as DD only wants to be fed about 4 times a day, roughly at 6am, 12pm, 4pm, and 8 pm, Does this sound enough? Her weight was fine when I last got her weighed about 2 weeks ago, she's on the 98th centile! But she doesn't seem as hungry as before...? She seems well in herself, but she had her 2nd lot of jabs last Wednesday.

Hello, my DS is 14 weeks and since 8am today he has fed 6 times so far, in a a 24 hour period he will usually have 9-10 feeds.
He is still feeding every 2-3 hours around the clock.
If you're worried I would call the HV to reassure yourself.

Plibble · 25/10/2006 12:35

At that age, DD fed about 6 times per day (very roughly at 7,10, 1,4, 6 and 10). But it sounds like she was smaller than your lo (as is 25th centile) and so her smaller stomach may have required her to eat more often.

IMO (def NOT an expert), as long as she chugs along roughly following the curve in her red book, she is probably fine.

Agree with usandbump that you could seek reassurance from the HV, if yours is any good.

hi, my ds is nearly 12 weeks, currently feeds approx: 7am, 10am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, dreamfeed at 11pm, 4am. So that's 8 times. He was on 9th centile, just gone up to 25th. But my friend only feeds her 14 week old 4 times a day (he is huge).

my ds is 12 weeks old and feeds 2 hrly. I don't think there is any "normal" and weight may have something to do with it.

Mine is the same as Plibble - roughly same times - but at the mo waking up twice at night. I don't think it matters as long as they seem well and are gaining weight

Well, since I posted on Tuesday DD seems to be getting hungrier again and she had me up twice in the night for a 2 big feeds! So I actually felt relieved that she hadn't slept through! But thanks for your posts.

Hi - my DD is 14 weeks and feeds at (approximately) the following times: 7am, 11am, 1pm, 4pm, 6pm, 10.30pm, midnight.

My HV said something about how they get more efficient at feeding as they get older (ie take in more per feed, and faster), I suppose some might just get efficient at a younger age than others?
