Can I breastfeed and take antidepressants?

Just that really. Going to have to make a appointment with g.p this am as anxiety levels are through the roof. I'm barely functioning, have no appetite, can't sleep and feel really wired. I've had anxiety to some degree for years but it's been managable. Expecting to be offered antidepressants but I don't want to stop feeding baby, it feels like that's the only thing I'm getting right at the moment.

Hi, your GP will be able to advise properly but mine said my anxiety meds (amytriptylene and propanolol) are fine during both pregnancy and breastfeeding. I've not conceived yet though.

Thats interesting as I've taken propranolol on and off for years.

Yes. I did. I think I was taking amitryptiline. Good luck. X

I've been on it 14 months now it has honestly transformed my life. Along with the Amytriptylene.

Yes. There are some that are fine with BFing. Nobody will suggest that you stop.

Thanks. Have a Dr's appointment later so will see what is suggested.
