Baby weight

My DS was weighed 2 weeks ago and was 9lb 8oz. Just had him weighed and he is now 11lb 6oz.

That's a lot to put on in exactly 2 weeks isn't it?

What centile is he

Sounds like a growth spurt. Also there's a bit of the graph where it's steeper ... almost all babies grow faster at that time!
Babies can't get overweight so don't worry. Smile

I worry as my HV kept telling me my dd was too fat and putting on to much weight. Only her though all the other HV's said her weight gain was fine.

No idea what centile he is on? Will it be in his red book? He was 9lb 1oz at birth and he's 4 weeks on Wednesday.

If you stop getting him weighed you'll find all these worries go away ;)

NoodieRoodie · 09/02/2015 19:56

DS was putting on nearly 1lb a week at one point. We'd struggled with feeding at the beginning but when he was about 5 weeks he put on 1lb 1oz in a week, the HV said I could stop worrying about him not gaining enough Grin

Agree with Micah. Unless you have any concerns about weight/feeding, don't get him weighed! DD was weighed by the HV at 2 weeks, then at her 6 week check then not again until her 1 year check! 50th centile each time.

It could have been slightly inaccurate scales, or a growth spurt. Either way I really wouldn't worry. He'll find his curve and it will all even out.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 09/02/2015 20:20

His centile will be in his red book. Plot his age against his weight on the graph and you will find it (although the midwife/health visitor should have done this already so you probably just need to find the graph)

Wigglebummunch · 09/02/2015 20:22

If I wasn't so nice i'd honestly tell the HV to do one but she asked me to get him weighed once before she comes back at 6 weeks so I thought I'd go as I was passing the clinic anyway. I won't be going again unless I want to know how much he weighs.

I think it's a growth spurt, he's bloody huge!

It should be on the little graph in the red book,ds2 was 9lb 6 when born and was 10lb 3 after 14 days
I'd be ShockShockShockShock if a hv said they were putting on too much weight as a baby!

Awakeagain · 10/02/2015 10:22

As a guide ds2 is around 91st centile
Ds1 went from 50th to 91st and gradually dropped back to 50th over 9 months
It's just a guide, so long as they are gaining weight and developing its ok
