Help - breasts engorged while away from baby

I've been really stupid and gone away for the weekend without my BF 10mo and without planning how to manage my boobs Hmm. I now have very engorged, sore breasts and am a bit scared they will explode. Hmm Or get infected or mastitis.

I've been away from him since yesterday and won't see him til tomorrow evening - I've tried warm water and hot flannels which I now understand actually stimulate production. I've also done a bit of hand expressing - I don't have a pump.

Has anyone any suggestions? Cold water? Ice?

TIA

Hand express over the sink - this should help take the edge off. I didn't this when I stopped nursing and was trying to reduce my supply (around 10 months) - it really helped, just stand in a shower if you can but the hand expressing will help without over stimulating the breasts to make more milk - hope it helps you!

Especially if you're away until tomorrow - your milk supply won't be affected either.

Hand express in a really warm shower. Try to relax and look at lots of photos of your baby too.

Thank you so much - I did both every few hours (got my phone wet in the shower!) and it did take the edge off. They feel reasonably comfortable now if rather spectacular to look at Grin.

Love your name Furry Smile
