Winter feeding grumble (lighthearted)

squizita · 31/01/2015 11:06

Not a serious need for help. More a grumble.

"Freezing my Tits off" used to be a figure of speech! Angry
Anyone else hate BFIng outside in this weather? Starbucks and shopping malls are making a bloody mint out of me. Even if I took expressed dd drinks it warm.

Summer babies/mums don't know they're born (oh wait, another idiom fail ... they're not yet!).

Tips for places to go (beyond Costas or Patisserie Valerie if I want to remortgage my house).Grin

Mostly cafe Nero or the JL cafe as the staff are lovely and bring your tray over for you. JL also has a bf area. Otherwise the library or museum are good free places.

I also can't wait until summer Grin

Library was always a good place in my town, I did feed an awful lot in my car in the winter though.

mrsmugoo · 31/01/2015 19:37

I sympathise! I did all my breastfeeding in the boiling hot summer and lived in baggy vests with crop tops underneath - can't imagine having get 'em out in this weather!

JassyRadlett · 31/01/2015 19:40

Mine was the library too! Though I did a lot of cafes and shopping centres as well...

Having fed my boy on a train station in December, I definitely know your pain. Quiet pubs in the day are good. Decent old pubs will have cosy chairs and a fire.

The faffing with the number of layers of clothes! I am feeling quite grumpy. Or cold. Sometimes both. Grin

squizita · 31/01/2015 20:16

Ooh the library ... Thanks guys! Smile

I had a winter baby. I found it so hard to bf without a cake in hand that I'm not sure I ever fed on a bench.

squizita · 31/01/2015 20:25

Anything Yeah! Grin I'm like "what no muffin?" during night feeds! Wink

I spend a lot of time in the kids library… when they are older it's a great toddler hang out spot too. Museums& art galleries sound a bit weird but usually have quiet areas and nice big comfy seats and benches.

I feel your pain!

Though I also like the excuse of cuddling up indoors with a winter baby and getting to wear lots of baggy clothes until I feel a bit less postnatal…

Slings are much easier in the summer too.

Don't be too jealous of the summer babies though - they have to learn to crawl/ move in the winter and it's sooo great being able to just hang out in the park and do this. And WEANING 6 month olds is so messy. So much easier in the summer, just leave it all in the grass for the birds!

Good point! Also now she only poos once a day ... I can imagine lugging newborn kit would be a pain! Grin

I had to feed on a bench at a bus stop when my dd was about 3 weeks old because she suddenly woke up from a nap starving and furious and there was no time to get anywhere warm. It was bloody freezing with an icy wind blowing. At the time I was grateful even to find the bench rather than having to carry on running down the road with a screaming baby. Then a couple of weeks later we went for a walk in the park on a really cold day and halfway round she suddenly decided she needed a massive 45 minute feed. Thought my breasts would never feel warm again.
