Am I the only one still wearing nursing bras after 18mths? Or does another suitable lovely yet practical bra exist?

I have been bf'ing without a break for 27m and as my dd is 6m I shall be for a while longer - I am fed up with my soggy old bra's but was not aware that you could change back to underwiring after a yr - or do I turn back the clock after new baby? I do love my ellemcphearson bra though a pretty lilac) and have a couple of snazzy leopard print ones. But summer wardrobe is v diff unless you don't mind all the big prestuds and excessive material in bf bras.

Finding a decent bra when you are [ahem] - well endowed is difficult anyway... what I really want is a rigby and peller fitting and some well constructed bras made for me - should be available onthe nhs! If men bf'd it would be!!!

Hear hear on the NHS personal bras jelly!

Jelly, I fear you do go back to the start with a second baby - the issue, afaik, is that boobs go up and down in size, so no underwire will fit you properly in the early days of bf. And a badly-fitting underwire puts you at risk of mastitis, particularly if the wire is pressing against the milk ducts in any way (particularly during feeding).

jellybrainsalloverthewall · 18/10/2006 22:59

As I have had mastitis twice each time when baby was 5m (not sure why) I have no desire to put myself in risk of that again... sigh... back to baggybrasville - though tbh have ordered new ones from activebirth as they are doing 2 for one sale

Another vote for Elle and her lilac bra!

DH has just ordered me a new Bravissimo catalogue, he thought it was time we had a new one. He's very kind.

hmmm must be an individual thing. Am currently feeding dd2 7 weeks and dd1 2.5 and have been in underwires while preg and from about a week post birth without problems.

Regulat bra - not underwired, but then I'm not wild about underwired bras anyway. Just pull down the strap and flop it out, as it were...
